Gnewikow 2nd in BFL Super-Tournament

September 14, 2008- SMYRNA, Tenn.- Fate Sanders Marina on Percy Priest Lake hosted the final regular-season event of the Wal-Mart BFL, Music City Division. David finished the event in 2nd place.

The super tournament is a two-day, elimination style tournament, with only the top 11 boaters and co-anglers advancing to the final day. David led the tournament with a 15 pound limit on day one, anchored by the tournament's big fish of 5-3. The hot and humid conditions of day one gave way to 20-35 mph winds and rain on day 2 as the remnants of Hurricane Ike made their way through Tennessee. David survived the day with two keepers and held on for a second place finish. Scott Brummett won the event following up his 14-11 limit on day 1 with an impressive 13-7 limit on day 2 under adverse conditions.

David summed up the tournament on the weigh-in stage at Wal-Mart in Smyrna. "I am really happy with how this weekend unfolded. Yesterday went very well. In practice on Friday, I purposefully stayed away from what I planned on doing in the tournament, hoping to find a good back-up pattern. I caught a few, but knew that I would spend the day on Saturday fishing ledges. I was fortunate to get some good bites and hit several key spots at the right times. My hat is off to Scott. While the rest of us fought to keep a waning pattern alive, Scott abandoned his day 1 pattern early and found something that worked under today's adverse conditions. He really deserves this win."
