tot 2013 day 1

June 1, 2013 PARIS, Tenn. David Gnewikow and Jason Sain survived storms, torrential rains, and howling winds for two days to best 334 other teams, and take top honors at the Triton Owner's Tournament. Gnewikow and Sain weighed a five fish limit for 21.27 pounds on day one, landing them in 6th place. On day 2, Gnewikow and Sain weighed 22.83 pounds for a total weight of 44.10 and enough to land the first place trophy. David and Jason won the TOT in 2009 making them the first team to ever win two Triton Owner's Tournaments. For the win, the team took home $7500 cash and a bonus set of Carlise Tires and rims.

"I got a day and a half of practice before the event started," explained Gnewikow. "On Wednesday, I found 11 schools of fish, but none that I felt had winning potential. On Thursday morning I found four more schools, but on one of them, I made three casts and caught a 3.5 pounder, a 4.5 pounder and a 5.5 pounder. We ended up catching four of our weigh-in fish there on Friday. On Saturday, those fish were gone, so we had to go into scramble mode. I used my Humminbird 1198 to scan for schools and found one big school around 1:00PM that allowed us to cull three small fish. We left there with about 21 pounds total. Then, on a Hail Mary last stop, I caught a 5.5 pounder that sealed the deal. God blessed us tremendously and I give Him all the glory."
