2013 Angler of the Year

September 7, 2013 BENTON, Kentucky– An eleventh place finish in the final Bassmaster Weekend Series event of the year secured a convincing victory for David as Angler of the Year in the Kentucky Division. Over the course of five events, David weighed-in 30 out of a possible 30 bass weighing an impressive 114 pounds. In five events, David scored two wins, a third, seventh, and eleventh place finishes. He won by a 32 point margin over second place finisher, Gary Singleton.

"This final event was really tough on me," David explained after the weigh-in. "Winning the points means a lot to me. I won two years ago and finished second in a tie-breaker last year to Brent Anderson. I really didn't want to let it slip away this year. I hate to say that I played it conservative because that is not my style, but I did in this tournament. Going into practice, I knew that if I could just weigh in a limit both days, no one would catch me. I fished for schooling fish deep both days. I knew I couldn't win the tournament, but felt confident I could catch a limit both days. That's exactly what I did. I hate that I didn't do better in this tournament but I am extremely proud of winning the points against some very tough competition."
